Preparing a site for paving is a critical step in the installation of new asphalt surfaces. Establishing the proper grading with the correct substrate greatly impacts the final quality of the surface. Short cuts, poorly trained operators, and improperly calibrated equipment can result in cost delays and rework. That’s why PCS only employs the most experienced operators working the top-of-the-line equipment while carefully monitoring each step of the process.
Milling and removing the top layer of wearing the course of your drivable surfaces allows base course repairs to be completed and fresh asphalt overlayed, thereby protecting the deeper layers of asphalt and the structural intergity of your drivable areas. The result is a smotth new surface without the cost of complete removal of a base course. Therefore, PCS always ecommends milling the top course of existing paved areas to prior to overlayin new asphalt.
Before new asphalt is installed, it’s critical to make repairs and adjustments to the base course in order to correct grading issues and prevent premature failure of the new surface. While other paving companies may consider this an optional step, we believe in this process so sincerely that we include this work in every resurfacing project.
A successful pave starts with selecting the suitable materials and carefully prepping the surface for installation. Choosing the wrong materials or not preparing the surface correctly can lead to your new surface failing prematurely in as little as six months. With the suitable materials selected, PCS carefully broom cleans the surface and applies a thin layer of tack oil before laying down new asphalt in industry-standard two-inch layers. After the surface is installed, the PCS team will return the following day to paint new lines once the surface has cooled.
